Over 1,000 exhibitors have registered for MIDO, starting in Milan on 4 February 2023, according to the organisers. The exhibiting companies come from all over the world and represented the entire supply chain of the eyewear industry. Germany, France, Austria, Spain, Denmark, the USA, the UK, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Turkey and even Mauritius are on the list.
The “How to?
In addition to the new eyewear trends and other new products, a variety of activities are expected to enliven the three days of the fair. Guests on the calendar of events at the Otticlub in Pavilion 3 (dates on the website) include Nick Cerioni, creative director and celebrity stylist who puts a face to personalities such as Måneskin, Orietta Berti, Gianni Morandi, Jovanotti, Laura Pausini, Pierfrancesco Favino and many others. Cerioni will be a guest speaker at the round table of the “How to?” cycle entitled “How to define a look and personality through eyewear. Styling as an opportunity for opticians”.
Other “How to?” topics will be “Interior design of optical shops” with architect Martino Berghinz and “Communication and creativity” with researcher Luisa Aschiero and multidisciplinary artist Felice Limosani.
On 4 February, the programme will feature the ANFAO project “Empowering Optical Women Leadership” to support women on their way to a leadership career in the eyewear industry. The meeting at MIDO will be moderated by journalist Barbara Serra, sponsored by Fondazione Bellisario and held in collaboration with SDA Bocconi (School of Management).
MIDO Awards Ceremonies …
On 5 February in the Fashion District (Pavilion 1), the MIDO annual awards ceremony will be held to recognise outstanding optical shops, exhibitors and, from this year, companies in the sector. In addition to the traditional “BeStore Award” for optical shops that offer an outstanding shopping experience and customer service, and the “Stand Up For Green Award”, which is being presented for the second time for the stand that does the most for the environment, the “CSE – Certified Sustainable Eyewear Award” will be presented for the first time this year. It was launched by MIDO in cooperation with ANFAO and Certottica and honours sustainability in the global eyewear industry. The award ceremony will be hosted by fashion and lifestyle journalist Chiara Tronville.
… and more
Finally, on Saturday and Sunday, in Pavilion 1 near the Press Village, an augmented reality photo set will transport visitors and exhibitors into the “MIDO 2023 Frames” communication campaign.
In conjunction with MIDO 2023, the conference “Ophthalmology, optics and optometry: new technologies and the future” will also be held on 4 February in the “Fieramilano Rho” auditorium, organised in partnership with MIDO by the publisher of b2eyes and EyeSee.
