MIDO preparations in full swing
31 January 2023 – Over 1,000 exhibitors have registered for MIDO, starting in Milan on 4 February 2023, according to the organisers. The exhibiting companies come from all over the world and represented the entire supply chain of the eyewear industry. Germany, France, Austria, Spain, Denmark, the USA, the UK, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Turkey and even Mauritius are on the list.

24 January 2023 – Back in October, 100% Optical announced that it would once again be offering a comprehensive programme with education partner AOP at ExCeL London from 25-27 February 2023. The new process for attendees to pre-book places for the education sessions has now been released.

Eyewear: Growing uneasiness and doubts about the future
With the gradual waning of the Covid-19 pandemic and loosening of restrictions, expectations around the globe tended to be more positive, but the reality that emerged at the beginning of 2022 is turning out to be much more problematic, so much so that some analysts are calling the current situation the “new era of chaos”. This context is heavily impacted by increasingly rapid change, political and media polarization, supply chain issues, inflation, debt and geopolitical conflicts.

MIDO 2023 awards sustainable eyewear
5 December 2022 – To recognise sustainability in the eyewear industry, MIDO has joined forces with ANFAO and Certottica to launch the CSE Award (Certified Sustainable Eyewear). For the first edition of the award in 2023, all exhibitors at the fair are eligible and can submit sunglasses, frames or cases for it.

MIDO 2023 takes shape
18 November 2022 – The calendar of events for the upcoming MIDO, which will be held at the Milan Rho exhibition centre from 4 to 6 February 2023, will be available soon. However, other items such as hall occupancy, exhibition areas and registration for the fair’s various awards are already fixed.

100% Optical: More independents, more training
10 November 2022 – The organisers of the UK’s biggest optical show, 100% Optical, have set out from the start to encourage independent eyewear designers and manufacturers. The three-day show, to be held at ExCeL London from 25-27 February 2023, will feature the largest ever range of products.

17 October 2022 – The figures for SILMO Paris 2022 exceeded expectations. A spectacular increase in international visitors and an increase in the participation of French opticians confirmed that SILMO Paris had returned to its pre-crisis level, the show said in its summary.

MIDO: New look for 2023
10 October 2022 – From 4 to 6 February, the optical industry will meet at MIDO 2023, where the industry’s new products in terms of trends, innovation, design, sustainability and creativity will be on display. The look and the motto of the fair in Milan will also be new next year: “The Eyewear State of the Art”. Interested visitors can register now.

The winners of the 29th SILMO d’Or
6 October 2022 – For the 29th time, the SILMO d’Or was awarded on the occasion of SILMO in Paris. The winners of the ten categories of design and innovation, announced on September 24, 2022 at the exhibition center, come from all over the world. In addition, the first class prize and a special jury prize were still awarded.

DaTE 2022 confirms last year’s visitor figures
16 September 2022 – With around 1,500 professionals and buyers visiting DaTE in Florence from 10 to 12 September, 100 companies and 170 Italian and international brands, the fair was able to confirm its figures from last year at its tenth edition. The MEDD by DaTE event will follow on 17 October.
