The Silmo d’Or jury has a new president: Nicolas Fafiotte was curious to explore other creative worlds and takes on the prestigious role of SILMO d’Or president. The fashion designer hails from Oyonnax in the Ain region, the cradle of the French eyewear industry.
A graduate of the fashion design school ESMOD (first prize in the haute couture category), Nicolas Fafiotte trained in Paris, notably with Emmanuel Ungaro, before moving to Lyon in the early 2000s.
He opened his atelier near Place Bellecour, where he designs custom-made wedding and evening dresses. He designs “extraordinary dresses for extraordinary occasions that express a celebration”, as he says. The designer convinces his clients with his sense of style and his demanding perfectionism.
Supporter of Miss France
The master of French savoir-faire has a talent for designing sublime dresses that impressed Sylvie Tellier, Miss Lyon 2001, who was elected Miss France 2002 the same year. Nicolas Fafiotte moved into the limelight and centre stage of the fashion world and became a loyal supporter of the national competition, which was widely reported, designing prestigious dresses for the finalists.
Fafiotte is constantly on the move and is careful to choose his collaborations sparingly. He regularly collaborates with other brands to create, for example, a jewellery line, handbags, accessories and the spectacular looks of the “Live Show d’Etam Lingerie”. He also designed the “Pronuptia by Nicolas Fafiotte” collection, which was presented at the Miss France 2022 pageant.
Fafiotte and SILMO d’Or
“This coming together bodes well for the next edition of the coveted SILMO d’Or Awards, which will be held at an unprecedented venue in the French capital. As a fashion designer for exceptional occasions, it is a great honour for Nicolas Fafiotte to bring his perfectionist (and glamorous!) eye to the nominated products,” says SILMO.
SILMO Paris 2023 will take place from 29 September to 2 October.
